Honesty is important in learning and maturing as a person.

We can actually put honesty in two different ways, honest to yourself and honesty with other, though I would argue that either way it is still about being honest to yourself. Anyway, being honest to yourself is the key to self-growth and learning as a person. If you fall off a bike or fail a test you didn’t study, you could either blame the bike for being two-wheeled or the test for being too difficult. Being honest to yourself would mean you understand that you are not trying hard enough on the bike and that you fail the test because you didn’t study for it. Not being honest makes you close your mind not and not trying to improve yourself. That trust you build to yourself will in turn build confidence to win in life. You understand how to conquer that fear of failing and you end up a better person.

Then we have the honesty to others. Honesty keeps everything going. It’s what keeps the economy going. The chain of trust is created by contracts that lead from materials to be delivered to the shop shelves. You can’t be dishonest to others and expect them to be honest to you. People have this strange sixth sense to liars. You can only deceive them so much. Honesty is probably most important in business and relationship in this case. Keeping your promises would build your credibility, that way you earn people trust. It just takes one dishonest act that will destroy it all. However, do not mistake honesty as being open. It is about building people respect on the real you. That real you are based on how honest you ever will be, whether in how you told your “white lie” in order to not hurt others. Knowing how to be honest is just important to be able to relate with people.

My husband was born in Mexico and he immigrated here, not because he disliked Mexico, but because it’s not a rich country and he wanted to do better than his father did. He told me that his father worked in the fields while his mother took care of the kids, so he rarely saw his father at all. When he did, he was tired or drunk, and not very caring. My husband wanted to be different from his father. He wanted to provide for his family, keep them well fed, and live the “American Dream”. What’s funny is that life isn’t much different here. We make more money, but we spend more money as well. I think it goes back to that old saying, “the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence”, or in my husband’s case, the other side of the river. I’m sorry if that is offensive to anyone, I put that in for my husband, although he technically didn’t cross a river.

The Constitution of the United States shows that our ancestors were committed to both liberty and equality. Prohibiting same-sex marriage is pure discrimination. People are allowed rights as equal citizens in any other area of life. The nation tries to teach against bullying, but in another breath teaches people that intolerance and discrimination is ok. That sounds a bit sideways to me.
Many people believe that marriage should be defined as a union between a man and a woman; this is the way a traditional marriage has always been defined. This has not always been so. Historically, different cultures have defined marriage in their own ways. Even in the bible, it casually discusses harems. Having many wives is considered an abomination in today’s society but I would bet that if some who oppose gay marriage were to look into their ancestry, they would find even more “abomination” in their own history!
The realization of “marriage” has constantly been redefined through the ages. In some cultures, marrying a woman who had been previously divorced was considered an abomination. Now, we eagerly accept this as normal. Society changes as needs change. This is no different in the area of same-sex marriage.
If two people love each other and want to be married, they should be able to reap the benefits of marriage. This includes benefits such as medical insurance, inheritance, life insurance, and other protections physically and financially. Straight couples allowed to marry enjoy these benefits. Why should same-sex couples be discriminated against?
Good for the economy. Homosexual couples still want to raise children, whether they are their own biologically or adopted. There are so children in the foster care system that could use good, caring parents. It is very hard to adopt when you are a single parent. If those in the LGBT community were allowed to marry, more would be allowed to adopt, leaving less children being cared for by foster care, or governmentally provided shelters. Also, when people work together towards a common goal (life), they spend more and usually have less likelihood of needing governmental assistance. Family homes, vehicles, insurance policies, clothing, antibiotics, everything. Even the act of getting married could help financially. Weddings are expensive, and the government would obtain more funds when a couple applies for, and pays for, marriage licenses!
What other people do should not affect you! If you don’t like it, you don’t do it. Just that simple. If you don’t want children, you don’t have them. If someone else does, good for them, that is their choice and their right! If you don’t want to homeschool your children, you don’t do it. If you don’t want to worship a God, you don’t do it. Plain and simple: what other people decide to do with their lives do not have to affect you in anyway whatsoever.
And the 10th, and final, and most important thought on this subject: The United States no longer has to worry about it! As of this year, 2015, the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage is now legal in all 50 of the United States of America!!!

Ummm, why do people shoplift? I think because they are selfish. Instead of going out and getting a real job where they make real money they steal. You would constantly be worried about getting caught by the police. Why would anyone want a criminal record hanging over their head just so that they can get a rush from shoplifting? People don’t steal because they want the rush, they steal because they don’t have the money to buy their own items. At no time is it okay to steal. Ask for help if you are so desperate that you feel the need to shoplift something. Store owners work hard to make money so when a person steals from them they are essentially losing money to help feel their own families. Other countries have thrown different items at newlyweds, but food and seeds have always been favorites. Wedding guests in Morocco gather round to toss raisins and figs at the couple to ensure a fruitful union. In France it’s wheat, in Italy sweetened nuts and candies, and in some other European countries, they even throw eggs at the newlyweds.

Today preferences have turned to throwing birdseed or blowing bubbles, but the symbolism is the same. It’s all a way of wishing the newly joined couple a bright and prosperous future. I personally think bubble blowing is the gentlest way to shower the bride and groom. I can tell you from experience getting smacked in the face with raw rice stings and you’ll spend hours trying to pick all the grains from your hair and out of your clothing.

I never understood why anyone will take drugs. There are already so many stories everywhere about how it ruins lives. Even if the school makes a terrible job at explaining the danger, I still fear them. The only thing keeping me away from drugs or smoking is the fear of the addiction itself. Why do people abuse drugs? Aren’t they afraid of getting addicted to it?

I just watched Pearl Harbor by Michael Bay. Decent movie I guess. Makes me wonder, though, why did Japan attack Pearl Harbor? It seems like a rash decision on their part. Did they not expect the atomic bomb drops? Then again, no one expects it to be so effective. I mean, America was one of the superpowers of that time who decide that they wanted nothing to do in the war in Asia as far as I know. The only reason I can think of why Japan would do so is just to show off their power, that didn’t go as well as they thought. Why did they launch an assault on Pearl Harbor?

Initially, I suspected it was just the usual nagging and disciplining, but soon after I started hearing screams and yells of pain from the children. I’ve got a bit of a delicate situation, but feel like I really need some advice. My partner and I have been together for 11 years now and we have 2 small children. Since the birth of our youngest child, I haven’t been able to get back to work and my partner is feeling the financial strain of trying to support our family. He has also had to deal with stresses at work and the death of a family member. My partner is a good person and an excellent parent, but he has been under a lot of strain and it has started to manifest itself in what I believe is verbal abuse. The smallest things can set him off, yelling at me and criticising me. Let me be clear – I love my partner and I want to support him through this difficult time. I want to rebuild and repair our relationship. But I also need to be better equipped to deal with the verbal abuse. So how to deal with verbal abuse? I’d like to be able to diffuse the situation before it gets out of hand.
