How to make puffed rice

All my attempts to get an answer to this question online left me more confused than enlightened. Just give me very clear instructions if you have any or preferably a website where I can go look things up.

Let me introduce my best taste of cinnamon puffed rice to you.

This is the recipe:


  • 3 cups of puffed rice (brown) preferably the Arrowhead Mills brand for its organic nature.
  • Rolled oats (2 cups)
  • Sunflower seeds (1 cup)
  • Pumpkin seeds (1/2 cup)
  • Maple syrup(1/3)
  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil(organic)
  • 2 Tbsp cinnamon(ground)
  • 2 Tbsp Ginger (ground)
  • 1 Tbsp sea salt
  • You can add some coconut sugar or any other such sweetener like stevia (optional)


  1. Heat the oven ahead of time to about 350·F
  2. Lime some baking sheets greased with coconut oil or with a parchment paper.
  3. Mix the following in a portable mixing bowl: coconut oil, maple syrup, and coconut sugar. Heat on your microwave or stovetop for about 1 minute or long enough for everything to get melted.
  4. Combine all the other ingredients in a big mixing bowl.
  5. Pour the mixture in the big mixing bowl with everyone of the dried ingredient and whisk until they are all coated.
  6. Pour on top of the baking sheets and distribute them evenly.
  7. Continue the baking for about 10 minutes, take it out, stir the mixture, and continue checking.
  8. Continue the baking until it turns golden brown.
  9. Allow it to cool for about 20 minutes or at least 10 minutes.
  10. Store it in an airtight can, a glass mason container, or any other container at room temperature.
  11. Serve it as a chilled cereal with almond cream and lace with your best fruit or serve it plain and enjoy it like a granola.

I was also searching information about how to make puffed rice in the past and I'd like to introduce my puffed rice recipe to you : )

Ingredients for puffed rice:

  • 2 cups of oil
  • 1 rice bowl
  • Sugar for sprinkling

Puffed rice directions:

  1. Cook 1 bowl of rice.
  2. Keep the rice on a large tray to dry and use when it has dried.
  3. The next thing should be to add some oil in the pan at a slightly high temperature.
  4. Put a sieve in the boiling oil and add the dried rice and shake it for about 30 minutes. Soon the rice begins to get puffed.
  5. Drain the leftover oil after pulling up the sieve and then store the rice separately.
  6. Add more rice into the oil in a sieve in a similar way.
  7. After putting the rice in a different plate, add some sprinkles of sugar on top of it. It is better to sprinkle the sugar when the rice is still warm.
  8. You should add the whole rice again to the sieve and cook for 30 seconds. The crispness of the rice will tell you the puffed rice is ready for the dining table.
