I am always worried that people will not like me or the things that I do. I am an outgoing person but I can’t help but worry about what people think about me when I am not around.

Think positive.

You care so much about what people think because you are afraid that they won’t approve of you. True or not, your fear of rejection is what keeping you awake at night and worrying about all the negative things people are thinking about you.

Help yourself get rid of those worries by focusing on the good things. Think about the people you helped instead of those who did not receive anything from you. Think about the success of a project that you have completed instead of the criticisms from other people. The more you focus on the positive things, the less you will think about all the negativity coming from other people.

Train yourself to not care what people think by focusing on the most important things in your life. When you realize that you have healthy body, wonderful family, a great job, and loving friends, all the bad things that people are thinking, and even saying, about you are irrelevant.

People will always talk behind your back. You cannot change that so let them do it to their heart’s content. But don’t let those negative things ruin all the good things that you are enjoying right now. Yes, it hurts to hear things that are untrue, but it will hurt you more if you will let them affect your life.

How to not care what people think? The answer is simple when you realize that you have your own life to live, your own happiness to pursue, and own goals to achieve. What people think does not change any of those things.

We are all social beings who require the acceptance of our friends, family, and the people around us to feel secured and satisfied. But it does not mean that we have to live our lives according to their perceptions about us. What you think and feel is more important. Do not let other people dictate your happiness. Even if you do all the things that you imagine will satisfy the people around you, they won’t be enough. The same people whose opinions you care so much about will still find some bad things to say about you.
