I have been looking for different ways to chat with my friends and family. However, I want to be able to use one platform to do this instead of having to download or pay for multiple apps. I have tried the video call option on Facebook but can’t seem to get it to work. Why can’t I video call on Facebook? I know it’s an option so why can’t I use it? It would be the ideal place for me to talk to all of my friends and family.

Facebook has made it even easier for you to connect with your friends and family by introducing Facebook video calling. The app is relatively easy to use, but from time to time people have trouble using the application. So why won’t your video call go through?

It could possibly be that you are using a browser that isn’t supported by the video calling app. Currently, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Opera are the browsers that allow you to successfully use Facebook video calling. If you are having trouble, try switching to one of these types of browsers. However, if you are still having trouble, you may need to determine if the friend or family member is even available for chatting. You can determine this by hovering over the camera icon in the chat area. If your friend or family member is in fact available, it will prompt you to start the video call with that individual.

To check the friend or family member is even available for chatting…well, this could be the reason why can't I video call on Facebook… I didn’t know it would even be a problem ;/

If you are having trouble making video calls with Facebook, there could be a number of things wrong.

If you are attempting to make a video call from your cellular device, you may not have the appropriate type of application that supports video calling. You can install Facebook messenger on your cell phone, but in order to video call, you will more than likely need to install the Facebook video chat app, which is different from messenger.

Also, you can’t video call on Facebook because you simply don’t have a camera installed on your computer. Even if this is the case you will be able to use Facebook video call. However, you will only be able to see and hear your friends, but they will not be able to see you.

If the connection that you are using is too slow to support the video call, this could be why you are unable to successfully use the application. This is easily fixed by determining whether you have a good wireless connection and if you don’t, connect directly with your router to make the connection more stable. Also close all other applications on your computer that may be using the internet. The same goes for your cellular device if you are attempting to use it for Facebook video calling.
