My family is Catholic, but I think my beliefs lean towards Atheism. I’m feeling confused, so I’d like to see what other people have to say why do you believe in God or why not do you believe in God? I hope to find a good conversation.

I believe in God. I admit, sometimes I have my doubts, but it’s very important for people to believe in a God of some kind. Having faith helps us get through life’s struggles. When life gets difficult, it really helps to have faith to turn to.

I seek the truth. My studies require me to question everything, and I do. In my searching I have found that there is a God.

I’ve been taught to believe in God, but I’ve also been taught to find the facts for myself. So I spent a lot of time searching and wondering and doubting, and I’ve realized that there is, in fact, a God. I have not see him, but I know he exists because I have prayed. I have felt him near me and I have seen my prayers answered.

We do not know the size of our universe or how it came to be, so why concoct an explanation with no observed proof? Why not just admit our ignorance and try to find the answer? I’m an atheist because I have no reason to believe and I’d rather be ignorant than accept foolish religious ideas with no evidence.

I do not believe in God, assuming the topic is referring to an omnipresent, omniscient, all-loving God. I find the idea ridiculous. Without going into great detail about my feelings on the matter, if such a being exists, he is incredibly biased. There is suffering and inequality. Some people can say that they feel blessed every day, but others are abandoned and left hungry and dying.

Why do you believe in God? The deities I believe in are not the same as most monotheistic religions. I am a Celtic Pagan and a Unitarian Universalist. I believe in my ancestors, who are my gods. I think that there must be something out there that helped our universe come to be. I don’t think life was able to suddenly pop into existence.

I don’t believe in God because there is no observable evidence. If there is a God, why would he be completely intangible? If God cannot be observed by any of my senses, why should I believe in him? If he wanted me to believe in him, he would disclose himself to me. I’ve often heard that God can be “experienced” or that you can “feel” him in your heart, but that “experience” is entirely subjective. It can’t be demonstrated to anyone else so it isn’t evidence of anything. If God created the universe, then who or what created God? If God has always existed, then why didn’t the universe?
