Why did God create woman? If we are supposed to be made in the image and the likeness of God, why is there gender then? What is the point of differentiating people in two? Are women just created to serve man? That sounds like a terrible thing to do even by God’s standard.

God indeed created woman to serve man, but not in the way that we should think traditionally. In Genesis 2:18, God said that “It is not good that the man should be alone; it will make him a helper fit for him,” so Eve was created off Adam’s rib bone and become his partner. Man is created in the image of God, but woman is made on the image of man. In Corinthians 11:8-9, it states that “For man was not made from woman but woman from man. Neither was created for woman, but woman for man.” So we have it the way we have now, a wife serving a husband is the norm.

However, if we read further, God wants them to “be fruitful and multiply and fill the Earth and subdue it” in Genesis 1:28. The main purpose of the woman is not to serve the man exclusively, it is to be a mother of children, a life bearer and taking care of children. Nowhere in the bible does it say that woman should only stay at home and give birth for the husband. The main purpose is to be a wife and a mother.

Woman is created to be men’s greatest ally. Adam is not designed to be alone and so God created Eve to be his companion, one that is fit for him. If you are wondering why woman can be more chatty than man, that is in the Bible too. Proverbs 31:10. 11-12 & 26 NASB claims that woman is the trustworthy adviser, who does him good and not evil, all the days of her life. The idea that woman’s intuition is to be trusted. Men can depend on her before making a decision, that all she will do is for his best. Not only that, woman is depicted as a source of comfort and of course, pleasure. Yes, woman is made to satisfy man sexually with her body. With that being said, woman is satisfied by man as well. A design of a man and woman becoming “one flesh”, which is the least sexy term I can think of when describing sex. Why did God create woman? Because woman is made to be blessings to man, both in body and heart. There you have it.

Why did God create woman? Spiritually, man and woman symbolise the relationship of the God and human, the relationship of the leader and his followers. Woman was made in the image of man, who was made in the image of God. The man becomes the leader and protector while the woman will be to the submission of man. The same way Jesus fulfill God’s wishes and wills, woman should respect the man, especially his husband.
